It is 1:30am and I have finally found time to add another post… I have several written down on paper after a 10 day stint at Livingston Market Place, Kelmscott Show, Whiteman Park and then back to Livingston 😛 This was the shortest!
My boy has just woken up and asked for bread and butter.
Missy is sleeping her head off (I think)
Husband in standing behind me farting and telling me to go to bed…
Here Goes: Over my time at shops I began to notice when sales increase. As follows 😛
1. Be really really REALLY busting to pee
Customers will come out of no where when you are busting for a loo break! This may not be a big deal if you have someone manning the shop or stall with you, but when you are by yourself you can’t just leave. Hold it, ‘dance’ and get those sales!
2. Sit Down
After about lunch time (3-4 hours of standing) you’ll notice most stallholders start doing the ‘stallholder stomp’. This relieves boredom and sore feet 😛 It can also be confused with the ‘toilet dance’ as we call it in our house. After a while you start looking like an idiot, especially when the shops are fairly empty. Hence you sit. Out of no where comes that customer – normally in this case they don’t buy, so you sit again, only to have someone else come up. Might as well stand!
3. Be really really REALLY hungry
Find a quite time to go get food. Sit down ready to eat, take a bite… and there you go, another customer! I normally end up eating cold food. Can be a completely quite day until you decide to eat!
4. Take a photo of your stall
Set up your stall/shop so it all looks pretty and while focusing for the perfect pic, a set of chubby little hands are bound to get in the way. Another sale
5. Update photo to Facebook
Again while on your phone trying to type text to upload with pic, another customer!
6. Remember something really important and start to do something about it…
Yet stand, alert, smiling, ready and willing to serve customers…. crickets Ok so perhaps I am being a little dramatic but I tell you (and so will every other stallholder/shop owner), customers just know when you are busting to pee or have a mouthful!
Anyway, I’m done for the day. I hope to get a post up that is a little more substantial soon but this will have to do for today… or yesterday 😛
